Michael Mensah

Michael Mensah is a one year MPH candidate concentrating in Health Policy. He attends UCSF Medical School, where he is a 4th year PRIME-US Medical Student. He is also a Zuckerman Fellow at the Center for Public Leadership of the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, he studied Philosophy and African American Studies at Princeton University, graduating in 2010.

While at Harvard, he hopes to learn more about the public policy of psychiatric health care delivery, make lasting friendships, and further develop his passion into purpose. In the future, he hopes to become a professor of psychiatry whose research interests include racial and ethnic disparities in mental health care delivery, mental illness in adolescents, and inter-generational trauma among 1st and 2nd generation Americans.

Jessica Lau

Jessica received a B.S. in bioengineering from Clemson University, with focuses on biomaterials and French. She is currently a PhD student in the Department of Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the Harvard Chan School. Her research interests include using genomics and genetics techniques to study bacterial pathogens and antibiotic resistance.

Kajal Mehta

Kajal Mehta is a student at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, working on her Master’s in Public Health in Global Health. She was born and raised in the great state of Texas, where she studied social entrepreneurship in the Plan II Program at the University of Texas at Austin, and is now a rising 4th year medical student at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. She plans to pursue a career in surgery as well as public health, with a particular interest in global surgery in low and middle-income countries. Her goals for the year include learning lots of public health and about public health writing, eating every combination of cannoli at Modern Pastry, and fulfilling her dream of becoming a figure skater.

Quincy Nang

Quincy Nang is a proud citizen of the world. He was born in Libreville, Gabon, and spent the greatest part of his childhood in Paris, France. He returned to Africa as a teen, where unfortunate circumstances and adversity opened his eyes to the reality of living in poverty. Having moved to the U.S. a few months after his 18th birthday as an international student, he has lived in Washington D.C., St Cloud, MN, Rochester, MN and Boston, MA over the last 11 years. Now a medical student and aspiring Pediatric Urologist, Quincy has found ways to tie his strong desire for the pursuit of human rights for all and the improvement of healthcare systems universally by pursuing his MPH in Global Health.

Being a Writing Fellow for the Voices in Leadership series remains one of his favorite parts of this year at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. An avid reader for as long as he could remember, he has learned the beauty and power of words and stories under the expert guidance of French poets and Japanese manga artists alike. He is an amateur science-fiction/fantasy writer and has stumbled along the creative process associated with short-stories. He is eager to translate lessons of leadership from our illustrious guest speakers using lenses of humility to create a worthy experience to the readers… With or without having recourse to using magic.
